What is a Blackboard cartridge, and how does it work?

A Blackboard cartridge is a specially formatted file that loads a textbook publisher’s content directly into your Blackboard course.  This content varies by publisher, but typically includes links to interactive lessons and Web sites, PowerPoint slides, and online assessment materials.  

You can use cartridge content in several ways.  If you have already developed a Blackboard course for a particular subject, you might consider using the information in a cartridge to supplement existing materials.  If you are teaching a course for the first time or are new to using Blackboard, you might consider using cartridge materials only. 

You will receive a cartridge download key and instructions that you should give to Denise Diorio or Michelle Perkins, Holy Family’s Blackboard System Administrators, to load into your course shell.  Some publishers require that students purchase a code to access this content in your Blackboard course.
