About Dr. DellaPietra

Dr. DellaPietra grew up in Guilford, CT. She attended Boston College, receiving a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1989. After working for a year, she enrolled in Hahnemann University's doctoral program. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Florida, specializing in pediatric Neuropsychology. In 1995, she obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a subspecialty in Neuropsychology. She subsequently participated in a post-doctoral fellowship at Children's Hospital in Boston, in the pediatric Neuropsychology track.

Following completion of her training, Dr. DellaPietra spent 6 months at Yale University's Center for the Study of Learning and Attention Disorders, where she designed a research protocol for the study of these problems in college-age students. She then returned to Philadelphia and worked for 3 years in the Neurology department at the University of Pennsylvania, concentrating on the assessment and diagnosis of individuals with various types of known or suspected brain damage.

During the time she was working at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. DellaPietra began teaching at Holy Family College at night. She enjoyed teaching so much that she left her clinical position in 1999 and joined the full-time faculty in the Psychology department at HFC.

Dr. DellaPietra has been married to her husband, Patrick Grugan, for 4 years and they have a daughter, Julia, born in May, 2002.
