Using the Power of PowerPoint
To
Develop Classroom Games
Click
on the
"JeParty"
PowerPoint Game Logo Below
The "JeParty" Game
can be an excellent, non-traditional teaching tool in your classroom to review or
teach new material. The best way to develop this tool is to plan your 6 Category Headings and the 5 answers/questions that will go in each
category. Then proceed with the directions below.
1. Insert your Flash Drive, then right click on these directions and print them.
2. Then click on the these words --> JeParty Game to get the PowerPoint Template.
3. On the next screen, find heading #2, (Jeopardy PowerPoint) and RIGHT CLICK ON #4, Jeeparty template - 69 slides. On the drop down menu, select SAVE TARGET AS.
4. On the next screen, make sure you select your FLASH DRIVE as the place to save, type in an appropriate name for the file, and click on the SAVE button.
5. Now, close all the windows on the screen, goto your Flash drive and open the file you just saved.
6. A Jeopardy PowerPoint Template opens (with some familiar music) with a couple of introductory slides and then a game board (wait until you see the game board) - it looks like the Jeopardy Game Show Board.
7. Right Click on the top block of the first column which says "Column A" and select "Edit Slides" from the drop down menu. The screen changes to show thumbnails of the various slides in the left column.
8. Click on the first block on the left which says "Column A", erase it, and type in Your First Column Heading.
9. Repeat step 8 with each "Category Heading" block and enter your Heading for each of the columns - Save it when done.
10. You are now ready to enter your "Questions" and "Answers". Looking at the Thumbnails on the left, slide 5 has "Question Number One A" typed on it. This is where you would enter your first column, $100 QUESTION.
11. Now look at Slide 6. Slide 6 has "Correct Response One A" typed on it. This is where you would enter your first column, $100 CORRECT ANSWER.
12. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you entered your information as described in Step 10 & 11 above, when playing the game, the Question would come first and then the Answer. In the TV Jeopardy game, the Answer is given first and then the contestant provides the Question. If you would prefer to do it this way, then reverse the process - that is enter the ANSWER on Slide 5 and the QUESTION on Slide 6
13. Continue in this manner down Column A for the $200, etc. Questions/Answers, then go to the $100 box in the 2nd column and enter questions & answers down that column.
14. Repeat this process through the rest of the slides, then go to File Menu Select SAVE AS, save it ON YOUR FLASH DRIVE, and you are done.
15. Now run the PowerPoint file and there you are - JEPARTY!
